In this episode, guest Ivy de Borja unpacks how the current pandemic is changing the HR landscape. Traditionally, people management plays a supporting role when it comes to business management.
Now, human resources have transitioned from being the administrative shadows to becoming the strategic voice of their organizations.
But leading in the current sea of ambiguity can be daunting. Juggling between company balance sheets and satisfying employee demands–all require a hint of balance. A skill that every HR practitioner needs to master.
And even with the experience and knowledge she possessed, Ivy admitted to having moments of self-doubt. She mentioned the essence of having a professional support system and how reaching out brought her to a new level of self-awareness.
Ivy also further advised that cultivating employee loyalty, especially during the crisis, is not just about showing empathy. At its core, leaders should have both awareness and compassion. They need to deep dive into their employees’ situations, making sure that they feel genuinely cared for.
